Traffic is an everyday thing but yesterday it was at its worst in recent history.
On my way to the I.n.K. officers' meeting I got stuck in stupid Katipunan-Balara traffic for more than 30 minutes. It wasn't even raining yet.
I arrived too late for the officers' meeting, and a bit early for the general meeting.
Soon after the meet it started to rain. I was lucky Nico came to pick me up, as a number of InKies were stuck in Bartlett Hall (that's CFA for you), unable to brave the heavy rains.
I hung out for a while at Nico's and watched Supersize Me! while he changed guitar strings. I suddenly found myself craving for a Big Mac. :-P

We hit the roads around quarter to eight in the evening. We wanted to make it to the Ian-Joey-Trici birthday bash before Nico's gig call time at Freedom Bar. And guess what? The Katipunan traffic was much worse than the noontime traffic. Baha na kasi sa may area ng National Bookstore. We took a detour to C.P.Garcia. Traffic din. Going to the Teachers' Village area near the stud farm was also congested. The traffic to University Avenue was not moving at all. (What I thought was a mirage from the heat a long distance ahead was actually a body of water. Anubayun.) We turned back and inched our way towards CFA. Once we made that turn we were in the clear. On EDSA we made a short stop-over to buy chocolate mousse.
Ortigas Avenue was another story altogether which mostly involved sitting in more traffic. (It's a boring story anyway, so I won't be going into detail anymore.) We were wondering if we can make it back to Freedom Bar in time for Narda's set at the Boy Elroy album launch.

Food at Ian's more than compensated for all the travelling hassle. (Thanks, Ian!!!) It was so good I forgot about Nico's 9:40 call time. He sulked through the Ortigas and Cubao traffic while I had to deal with the discomfort of guilt, among other things. (Well, at least busog ako. That's one less discomfort.)
We found Conrad sitting at the table outside Freedom Bar. Nico was the first Narda member to arrive. (Jing and the other guys were stuck at Glori's Sikatuna when I texted them from Greenhills. They were still there when we arrived. They ended up parking at a side street and walking all the way to Freedom, lugging all their equipment.)
The place eventually started to fill up, despite the increment weather. The gig started late though, some time past 11 p.m. We left right after Narda's set (they played a good short set, and they sounded good!), so we could go back to Ian's party.
Going back was worth it. By this time the traffic had eased, and the party was in full swing with guitar-wielding Ebe singing, backed up by string section Chino and Anjo. Soon after, Fatal Posporos took over. It was a fun, fun gig. Sayang talaga wala si Annette.
(Gadsh, I miss the gigs.) :-/

Nico wonders why traffic starts to build up whenever it rains. His theory: as soon as raindrops hit the roads they turn into cars.
Hmmm... Pwede. Pwede.
