Treat or treat.

We spent Halloween at the Ayala Heights Trick or Treat thing with the spawn (Kiwi & Kyla). We had Kyla use the octopus I made for Honee's pre-school students' musical presentation which I borrowed at short notice. Kiwi borrowed Nico's Darth Vader mask (a cheap imitation I found somewhere and bought for Nico hehe). We didn't make it in time for the costume registration cut-off, but the kids were able to get their freebies anyway.

A bunch of InKies and familiar faces (from UP FA) were there at the covered courts to judge the costume contest. We wished we had a camera with us! Ang ku-kyut ng mga bata! We saw this happy-looking little girl dressed as a huge gift. One other girl even had prosthetics on her face (Kiwi said that kid was dressed as a kampanerang kuba). We didn't stay long enough for the awarding of the winners, 'cause it was really hot at the covered court and we wanted to start trick or treating right away.

We were all first timers at this kind of thing (except Nico, of course) and I kept bugging Nico on how to go about it. (I have never participated in the action, I usually just see the kids roaming around with loot bags on Halloween.)

Nico says we only have to approach those who give away treats (with tables and all outside their houses/fences), and that we need not bother knocking on other houses anymore. I think this Halloween setup is better than Christmas! At least all those who participate willingly give stuff away. (Several households take part in this activity, too!) And it sure beats singing Christmas carols outside houses pretending to be empty.

(And the neighborhood is rather dull on the Christmas holidays. Parang kanya-kanyang gimmick silang lahat.)

We started our rounds a little before 5 p.m., alternating between walking and riding the car. After an hour or so, Kiwi & Kyla's loot bags were full. We emptied them in big plastic bags in the car and resumed trick or treating. Some households accommodate even the grown ups with on-the-spot consumables: (mostly) ice cream, marshmallows with chocolate fountains, cotton candy, fish balls, taho, etc. (Nabusog kami sa ice cream!)

We were all pooped out by 7 p.m. (and we already filled up all the loot bags again) so we went to Nico's house to freshen up and have dinner (and more ice cream).

After dinner Nico took us to NU for our radio guesting, and he was super nice about looking after the kids while the interview was going on. (Pogi points na naman!!!) The interview went well, despite the fact that I stuttered like an idiot and lost my train of thought in several instances.

Karen asked us to drop by her house after the guesting to give more loot to the kids. She gave us three nice lavender bags with Vince's artwork printed on 'em (one each for the kids, and one for me! Hehe) with lots of goodies inside. (Thanks, chief!)

All in all, a very tiring day (poor Nico was zoning out from exhaustion and now my legs are hurting like hell). Sulit naman ang pagod namin. No tricks for today. It's all fun. (n_n)
